The Writer
Books have spurred my imagination since I was five years old. Words of excitement, challenge, suspense, hopes and dreams sprawled across yellow tattered pages took me on flights across the world and through time. They helped me imagine a reality for myself beyond being a motherless girl growing up in East New York, Brooklyn.
It is those early Brooklyn (and later, Georgia), sounds and experiences that provide the passion and context out of which I write to encourage children’s hearts.
